First aid and pitchside medical cover for rugby matches

Looking for first aid game cover or a pitchside medic for rugby? PitchMedic helps organisers describe the fixture and request supported professional attendance. Rugby union and rugby league have different governing bodies and requirements; include the code and competition in your enquiry.

How do I plan an enquiry for rugby match cover?

Include rugby union or rugby league, competition level, participant ages, venue postcode and match or training times. For sevens or a tournament, explain how many pitches operate at once, the timetable and breaks. Specify which teams or groups need cover.

Share the governing-body requirements, event plan, equipment responsibilities and access arrangements. Check the current rules for your competition rather than assuming a course accepted for another code or nation is an automatic substitute. The organiser remains responsible for the event plan.

What are PHICIS, SAFE Rugby, FAIR, ICIR and AICIR?

England Rugby provides Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) Level 2 and Level 3 courses for healthcare and allied healthcare professionals working in rugby. World Rugby describes First Aid in Rugby (FAIR), Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) and Advanced Immediate Care in Rugby (AICIR) within its medical education pathway. IRFU SAFE Rugby and Scottish Rugby SCRUMCAPS each have Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 awards, mapped in World Rugby’s published medical education equivalence table.

These course names do not make the holder eligible for every rugby role. Check the issuer, exact course and level, practical assessment, validity, professional registration where applicable and the current competition requirements. A level in one pathway is not automatically equivalent to the same number in another.

Can I request a paramedic for rugby?

Yes, you can describe a requirement for a paramedic in an enquiry. This is not a confirmed booking or a promise that the role is available in the current beta. State the duties, competition requirements and equipment expected so PitchMedic can confirm whether the request is supported.

A first aider, paramedic, physiotherapist and sports therapist have different roles. Professional attendance does not automatically include an ambulance or patient transport. Standalone first-aider bookings are not currently offered in the beta.
